Who benefits?

The aim of the AirVenture Australia Stem and Careers Exposition is to encourage ongoing involvement in aviation by providing students with an engaging, interactive and education aviation-based STEM and Careers program.

The 2019 program will consist of two elements.  Firstly a week-long Aviation Engineering Work Experience Program, which has the objective of assembling a BushCat Recreational Aircraft from a kit.  The second is the Aviation Careers and STEM exposition, a one day education program on the 20th September 2019 for up to 150 school aged students.

AirVenture Australia's aim is to provide school age youth with an insightful and hands on experience of the Aviation Industry.  And showcase the various career pathways available within Australia Aviation Industry, including maintenance, design, fabrication and remotely piloted aircraft systems.

Are you a student in Year 11 or 12 who would like to build an Aircraft?

Register your interest in participating in the AirVenture Australia BushCat Aircraft Build. 

The program involves building an aircraft from a kit, which will then by flown for the first time at the AirVenture Airshow at Parkes Regional Airport on the 22nd of September 2019.

Stem Aviation and Career Exposition

Are you a Student in Year 8 to 12 who would like to be part of a One Day Aviation STEM and Careers Day

A one day Aviation Careers and STEM exposition is being held at AirVenture Australia on the 20th September 2019. 

This educational program is for high school students who have a keen interest in Aviation careers or would like to learn more about the career pathways available in Australian Aviation. 

To participate in the program you need to have parental and school consent, and be responsible for your own transport to and from the event.  A high standard of behaviour is expected from participants, ensuring they will obtain the most from the day.  If you are not located within the Central West of New South Wales and wish to attend, providing you are able to get to Parkes Airport by your own transport you are more than welcome to apply. 

This program is FREE and students will be required to complete a Passport Program consisting of four activities selected from multiple activities on offer.  These activities will be presented as hands on interactive workshops, with each participant taking part in a presentation by industry professionals discussing career options and pathways. 

The STEM and Careers day will serve a dual function for students attending, either by planting seeds to inspire career paths or confirming career direction and access through access to professionals who can assist to shape their future with both working knowledge and insight.  The aviation industry is very diverse and is growing rapidly.  Job prospects are strong and students undertaking these career paths will benefit as anticipated future growth of the aviation industry comes to fruition.


Workshops will be held throughout the day on a rotating basis.  Each workshop will be limited to 15 to 20 students ensuring an optimised learning experience for each student in attendance.

Workshop activities include:

Aerodynamics with our display director Forefront Aviation.

Basic Aeronautical Knowledge  with our exhibitor and gold sponsor Recreational Aviation Australia.

Software Coding with our exhibitor and gold sponsor OzRunways.

Full Motion Flight Simulation with our exhibitor and lanyard sponsor Lockr Pty Ltd, in the AeroJones Aviation full motion flight simulator.

Wing Building Activity with our exhibitor Brumby Aircraft.

Drone Activity with the Department of Defence.


 Aviation career ambassadors will describe their vocation and present students with career options, career descriptions, whilst also providing career pathways and future opportunities.  

These ambassadors will be available for student questions about the industry.

Some of the vocations represented include; aviation engineering, aircraft maintenance, aircraft operations support, air traffic control, pilot (general aviation and airlines), military aviation, remote piloted aircraft, computer science, and cabin crew.  Some of the professionals providing this knowledge will include two pilots from QantasLink, and Matt Hall from "Matt Hall Racing" to name a few.
